Scenic designer Martin Flynn creates the 1950s radio station complete with “Applause” signs that light up at appropriate times. Costume designer Marianna Ford has outdone herself with the fashions, especially the outfit worn by George’s wife Mary, who also sports period-perfect waves in her hair. James Frankle creates the various sound effects with his buckets of water, shoes, bells and more. The various actors are introduced by Alan Coyne, who plays Freddie the show’s MC. One of the fun things about this version of the popular film and stage play is that Town Hall actors are playing actors playing a character in the radio play. When not in front of the microphone, you see them relaxing about the set interacting with one another.
